The House Exploded, now what?
Tim Beckett is the Fire Chief/ Director of Emergency Management for the City of Mississauga where he manages the overall strategic, financial and day to day operations of the fire service and emergency management.
In total Tim has 31 years of fire service experience, and has served as Fire Chief in City of Kitchener and town of Whitchurch-Stouffville prior to coming to Mississauga.
Tim is a past President of the Ontario Association of Fire Chiefs (2010-2012), and served on the board of directors for 10 years in many capacities.
On June 28th 2016 at 1622 hrs, a home in a densely populated area of Mississauga exploded, killing two and displacing hundreds. This was a complexed incident that involved many agencies and organizations, had national and international media attention and required on-scene presence for several weeks.
The presentation will discuss the actions taken, how the media was managed, the use of an IMS structure and unified command, the recovery phase and the lessons learned.
